Get ready for a thrilling prehistoric adventure as Rotherham's MAGNA Science Adventure Centre brings back its beloved dinosaurs for the summer! From July 18 to September 4, 2026, visitors will embark on a journey back in time to discover the wonders of the Mesozoic Era. This year's Dig, Dino, Discover program promises an exciting lineup of activities and shows that will captivate both young and old alike.
One of the highlights of this summer's program is the Ferocious Fridays series, where RentaDinosaur takes center stage with their interactive live show, 'How to Train Your Dinosaur'. On July 31 and every Friday throughout August, visitors can catch performances at 11 am and 1 pm. Each week, a different dinosaur will make an appearance, adding an element of surprise and delight for returning visitors. Imagine the excitement of encountering a T-Rex, a Velociraptor, or even a gentle Brachiosaurus right here in Rotherham!
But the fun doesn't stop there! Throughout the day, these magnificent creatures will roam the halls of MAGNA, inviting visitors to get up close and personal. Head pats, hugs, and photo opportunities with these prehistoric beasts will be a memorable experience for all. It's like stepping into a Jurassic Park-inspired adventure, but with a touch of local charm.
In addition to the live shows, MAGNA has a packed schedule of dinosaur-themed activities during the summer holidays. Children can unleash their creativity at the Volcanoes Workshop, where they'll learn about the science behind volcanic eruptions while building and erupting their own model volcanoes. For those aspiring palaeontologists, the Fossil Dig Workshop offers a hands-on experience with genuine fossils and a simulated dig site. Under 5s can join the Dino Story and Play sessions, combining storytelling with imaginative free play, while younger visitors can get crafty at the Dino Crafts sessions, creating their own dinosaur models and accessories.
The summer program also provides access to MAGNA's existing attractions, ensuring there's something for everyone. From the family-favorite Aqua-Tek splash park to the Sci-Tek Adventure Playground and Under 5s STEM Play, there's no shortage of fun and educational experiences. But the best part?
